About the Filmmaker:
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Kosar knew she wanted to be a filmmaker after watching a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of "Back to the Future II" in 7th grade. Her motivation as a filmmaker is to take the audience on a ride bridging the gap to create a connection from audience to screen. "The reason why I love filmmaking is creating a world to take the audience to through story, conflict and character." Influenced by directors Michael Mann and David Fincher, she also looks up to well-known women's basketball coach, Pat Summitt of the University of Tennessee. Kosar grew up playing basketball starting at the age of 5 and continued through her undergrad where she was recruited. She began coaching while a sophomore in high school right up until she moved to California to attend graduate school. Kosar combines her knowledge of the game of basketball into her methods as a director. She feels the role of a director is similar to that of a coach: "striving to have all the players work together as a unit focusing on the same goal." With two award-winning short films, Kosars most recent short film "Lex Talionis" has been circulating the film festival circuit. While being mentored by a prominent television director, Kosar is currently in development on several projects.
